This unusual large sized handmade 1922 postcard is an invitation to come to a meeting of the N.B.Forrest Camp United Confederate Veterans . The UCV was an American Civil War Veteran’s organization headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana.It was organized on June 10,1889 by soldiers and sailors of the Confederate States. The UCV were the equivalent of the GAR - Grand Army of the Republic. This is another amazing example of a very rare postcard. Avery interesting example of early Historical Southern History. On the front is a crudely hand drawn image of Henry Ford in his car yelling to Congress “ If you don’t let me dam that river , You’ll be damned”. “ If the river is too high for your car, get a boat” L.J. Dickinson Adjutant. The postcard was sent to J.H.Latimer :B: 1843 D: 1934 He served with Company I of the 49th Georgia Infantry during the Civil War and was active in the UCV after the War. The postcard appears to be in good condition with minor rounded corners and dirt marks and dirt smudges. There appears to be sl areas of black paper residue at the corners. The postcard is postmarked 1922 Chattanooga, Tennessee.
