Description
Another unusual handmade large sized 1922 postcard serving as an invitation to a meeting at the NB Forrest Camp in Chattanooga,Tennessee. It measures approximately 4x7 inches. Ladies from East Chattanooga will be singing. The crudely done drawing shows an image of a woman seated on one side of a balance scale with Democrats and Republicans on the other. She holds the balance of power. Tennessee okayed a pivotal role in the passage of the 19th Amendment which granted woman the right to vote in 1920. August 18, 1920 Tennessee became the 36 th State to ratify the 19th Amendment. The postcard was sent to J.H.Latimer who was born in 1843 and died in 1934 . He served with Company I of the 49th Georgia Infantry during the Civil War and was active in the UCV after the War. N.B. Forrest was a prominent Confederate Army General during the American Civil War. The postcard appears to be in very good condition with minor rounded corners and dirt marks and dirt smudges. Sl black paper residue is at the corners. An amazing unique example of Southern History.Votes for Women LJ Dickinson Adjutant.
