Handsome 1959 Cities Service fold-out road map of New York, printed more than 56 years ago
This map opens to 18" x 30½" and has great detail on old highway alignments in the Empire State, with cartography by H.M. Gousha. There are inset plans of Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany.
A large inset map of Long Island shows ferries to Fire Island and construction in progress on the Long Island Expressway.
The map was distributed by Cities Service in 1959 and is dated in the legend. The code number in the lower margin is 8-GG. Dozens of little trefoil symbols locate Cities Service gas stations throughout the state.
Condition:
This map is in very good, lightly used condition, with minor fold wear and
no
rips or tears. There's a route marked through the eastern part of the state, from northern New Jersey to Montreal.
