Mailed Set One (#1) Steamboats from the Another Tribute to the Past marketing campaigns.
For the mid century Oil Company, Cities Service fans and others into advertising direct to consumer promotions, this Package of promotional materials was directed at the local dealers, to get them on board to the upcoming give away of high quality prints of historical Steamships. The envelope was mislabeled by Cities Service with a bad address and returned to the Cities Service marketing office. It's postmarked on the out side envelope and dated July 1959. The portfolio is unique in that its not like other Cities Service give away concepts promos that simply have the print inside a folding portfolio, but this "returned" mailing includes the original letter from the Chesapeake Region Manager of Advertising-Promotions, but it also has a product guide of the promo for the local Cities Service station or dealer to review before participating in the company wide promotion.
This auction includes in order of the photos posted in the listing:
1) Mailing Envelope with provenance data
2) Front cover of portfolio with images and logos.
3) Inside left 1/2 flap of portfolio
4) Inside right flap, with fold up pocket with prints and letters in view.
5) This is the inside right flap artwork behind the letters and prints with historical highlights and descriptions of each Steamboat.

Terrific preserved entire marketing package as sent to local dealers to promote the ever innovative Cities Service Oil Company and the genius of the local dealer being a part of every community, not a large faceless corporation selling gas.
