Description

Here's a wonderful antique brooch made of sterling silver with lots of hand engraving - this is a Civil War Union Army Corps Badge, inscribed from Captain T.I.R. (?) to Sergeant J.R.W.
This was a cross shape, the top branch of the Cross has broken off. The ones that remain are bordered with beautiful floral hand engraving and the names of several Civil War (War of the Rebellion) battles - Malvern Hill, 2nd Bull Run, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, South Mountain, and Antietam. This measures 33 x 28 mm.
Super rare and highly collectible!  5.6 grams total weight.
