Description

From a local estate and up for sale is this beautiful vintage celebratory ribbon from 1889!  The ribbon is in fair condition, rather fragile so I have placed it on a piece of poster board and in a plastic sleeve... When you view the photos, you will see two different colors to the ribbon, one is without a flash and one with the flash... the actual color of the ribbon is quite dark and there are some folds that I am leaving as found...                       The CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS ANNUAL REUNION took place in Palmetto, Ga. on JULY 24, 1886.                       At these annual reunions of regiments, corps, armies, and fraternal organizations were very important to the returned soldiers and their families, a place where they could gather together, relive their shared experiences, seek solace in their battle forged bonds, celebrate heroic deeds and commemorate the sacrifices of their fallen comrades.. and the reunions eventually became a symbol of a wider national reunification between the North and the South..               This vintage ribbon was owned by one such Confederate Soldier.. It measure 2 1/2 inches x 6 1/2 inches and is dark blue in color.                          Please check out my photos carefully and email me if you have any questions.    Thanks.
