    This is a New A O Smith maximum protection 3/4" x  50" Magnesium water heater anode rod. OEM Replacement for A O Smith 100109223 44" anode rods used in many State, A O Smith, and Lochinvar water Heaters. No original box. Removed from a New Vertex water heater that was damaged in shipping.
    Your anode rod should run the entire height of the water heater, and can be cut off if it's to long.
    A Magnesium rod is the correct choice if your hot water is softened.
