    Description

These are 3 Civil War insignia pieces that belonged to Captain John Steen from the Company G, Tweflth Volunteer Infantry from Iowa. The one with the 4 in it measures 1.5" wide and 1" high.  The two larger ones measure 1 7/8" by 1 1/8" and all I believe are made of brass. They are all in nice shape and come with their eyelets on the back as shown.  These were purchased from an estate sale and came in the small wooden box that was addressed to him when he lived in Wahoo, Nebraska.  This man had a very interesting life, coming to America in 1858 at the age of 12 and volunteering at the age of 15 for the Volunteer Infantry out of Decorah Iowa.  During the war he was shot, held prisioner, and released to fight more.  He had illustrious service during the war.  He then ended up in Nebraska and working for the Union Pacific Railroad and spent time in politics in Nebraska.  There is a great biography about him on the internet.  Please ask questions before bidding or buying.  Feel free to ask about combined shipping.  Please pay promptly using Paypal.  Thank you for bidding and we look forward to seeing you back.
