Description
This is a charming rustic pair of Antique Late 19th Century Benjarong / Bencharong Porcelain Cups made in China for the Thai Domestic Market. These metal rimmed cups were purchased by my father in Bangkok during the period he owned a Southeast Asian antique shop in Penang, Malaysia in the late 1970's to early 1980's. Overall the cups are in Very Fine Condition and most likely date from the latter part of the 1800's. The porcelain blanks for this type of porcelain were historically created in Jingdezhen / Guangzhou, China and then possibly also finished in China. For later pieces however the porcelain blanks were completed by local Artisans in Bangkok. Since the cup decoration looks fairly simple / straightforward I suspect they were finished in Thailand rather than China. Please review all 12 pictures prior to purchase.Individual Cup Dimensions: 2 inches high, 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Individual Cup Weight: 2.8 Ounces (79 grams)
