Description

A heavy 19th century Philippine Mindanao Kris (also called a Sundang) from the Sulu Archipelago of the Tausug tribe, double edged 24 inch wavy pattern welded forged blade with a central ridge and traces of decoration, 4 inlaid silver dots and 1 silver stirrup, the hilt completely covered with tied and knotted cord, horse hoof type pommel, the original wooden scabbard covered in rattan, both sides of the top with applied t/shell with decorative silver pins, both sides of the bottom likewise, the top and bottom of the sheath also with an applied nickel strip around the edges. Overall 29½ inches.
