Rare 1887 Grand Army of the Republic Battles and Casualties Handbook -
This scarce promo booklet was presented by the Illinois Central Railroad to attendees commemorating the ""Twenty-first Annual Encampment Of the G.A.R. at St. Louis, Sep. 27, 1887. (3 3/4 x 7 1/4) Consists of Approx. 46 pages listing the battles of the Civil War in Chronological order and giving the casualties on both sides. The folding map of the Illinois Railroad System, (14 x 14), shows the Eastern US with railroad and battle sites noted. The paper cover features a closing slotted tab and a portrait of Commander in Chief, Lucius Fairchild with tattered flags on both sides. Remarkable and complete document as never seen before.
The covers have some wear and soiling, but it's in great condition.
