    This coffee is an SHG EP which is the highest grade a specialty grade Costa Rican coffee can receive.
    SHG (Strictly High Grown) specifies that the coffee was grown at an altitude above 1350 meters.
    EP (European Preparation) specifies that the raw beans are all hand sorted to remove any defective beans and foreign material.
    ROAST PROFILE
    La Minita is a pedigree coffee. This high elevation Tarazu coffee is really an elegant, refined and clean cup. This is not your atypical Costa Rican coffee. In City, City plus roasts, this coffee displays a great balance between a bright, subtle acidity and an exceptional velvety chocolate body. As the cup cools, there is a refined caramel sweetens and a hint of fresh berry in the finish. This cup is mild overall and infinitely charming
    Recommended Roast:
    City to City+ Roast.
    A range of roasts (City to Full City) work well on this coffee, and each reveal a slightly different roast taste that pairs well with the fruit. City to City+ roast develop more fruit notes in the cup while the FC roasts extract an outstanding bright coffee with a dark chocolate body.

    Our Costa Rica Rainforest Alliance certified coffee is farmed on the famed Hacienda La Minita Estate,
    well known for the utmost quality control from planting, harvesting, and through processing.
    The Estate, which is approximately 2,000 acres in size, lies between the town of Bustamante and the Tarrazu river.
    Located southeast of the capital city San José, Tarrazú is known worldwide for producing some of the best tasting coffee. The area is so famous it's called “La Cuna del Café Costarricense"—the area where Costa Rican coffee was born. Typica, Caturra, Bourbon and Catuai are all grown on the farm under a carefully managed canopy of Poro shade trees which naturally provide essential nitrogen to the coffee trees and minimize the need for fertilizer inputs.
